This year marks ten years of Kaze Rice.
Looking back, it's tempting to measure the journey by numbers—how many farmers we've worked with, how many bowls of rice have been served, or how many places we've reached. But that's only part of the story. What stands out more are the people we've met, the fields we've worked in, and the lessons each growing season has quietly taught us.
It Started with Curiosity
The story began in 2015 with a simple experiment.
Inspired by the quality of Japanese rice, our founder wanted to understand what made it different. That curiosity led to a small plot of land, where methods learned through observation and research gradually transformed a dry field into healthy rice paddies.
It wasn't the start of a business yet, but it was the beginning of an idea.
A year later, Kaze Rice was established with the hope of growing organic rice while making it more accessible to Indonesian households.
Learning Along the Way
As Kaze Rice grew, so did our understanding of farming.
Over the years, we spent time with farmers, young growers, researchers, and communities across different regions of Indonesia. Every place offered something different—whether it was a way of managing water, understanding the soil, or simply seeing farming from another perspective.
Those conversations shaped Kaze Rice just as much as the harvest itself.
Our fields expanded, new rice varieties were introduced, and every season became another opportunity to learn.
Through every season
Like agriculture itself, the journey has never been linear.
Some years brought expansion. Others brought uncertainty. During the pandemic, while many aspects of daily life changed, the fields continued their rhythm. Rice still had to be planted, cared for, and harvested.
Those years reminded us that farming is built on consistency. Seasons continue whether circumstances are easy or difficult, and so does the work behind every harvest.
Looking Ahead
Today, Kaze Rice has grown alongside 2837 farmers across Indonesia and reached homes, restaurants, and communities across Indonesia.
